Round Table 4: Global Trade and Regional Integration Challenges and Perspectives for Africa
Round Table Discussion
Saturday, 6 June, 14:30-16:30
Room: HS 7
Organiser: Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische
Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH – German Technical Cooperation
Participation
of Africa in global trade is ultimately limited and unbalanced. Results of
regional integration seem to be more evident in the areas of peace, security
and governance than with respect to economic development. So what can be done
to make global trade and regional integration motors of economic development in
Africa? What policy space do African countries have? What is the responsibility
of the international community? What can be done in the framework of
development cooperation?

Schäfer, Head of Economic Section, Africa Department, GTZ
