Slave trade, colonial time and the cold war has often been used as the ultimate cause to explain Africans dreadful state. In 2003 all African leaders agreed that these external factors should not be used as an excuse anymore but the absence of leadership and good governance as reason of “the African disaster”. This understanding lead to the NEPAD initiative and to its key instrument the African Peer Review Mechanism APRM.
Is APRM having any Impact on a new Africa, and is there a New Partnership?
The Hanns Seidel Foundation brings together African decision-makers and experts with the representative of the European Commission to discuss the impact of APRM, the perspectives for the participating countries future co-operation and support as well as the starting points resulting from the APRM.
