Panel 8: Preserving Economic Policy Space in Africa (Helmut Asche)

Panel Organiser: Helmut Asche

Whether African economies will participate in globalization more successfully, depends largely on the economic policy space of African governments. This policy space is subject of major controversies surrounding appropriate macro-economic targeting and the possibility to carry out any targeted policies at meso- or firm- level in Africa. The panel deals with both the actual policy space and the proper use of it.
