Panel 36: Africa in the Emerging Space of Globalism: Rethinking the Philosophy of Globalization (Muyiwa Falaiye)

Panel Organiser: Muyiwa Falaiye

Globalization has often been described as a three-dimensional concept, a philosophy, a process and a phenomenon. Critics of globalization, especially in Africa have developed good arguments against the process and the phenomenon. However, the key element of globalization and the grundnorm upon which it is founded is the philosophy. This panel contends that without a proper understanding of the philosophy behind globalization, without an adequate consideration of the leit motif behind it, global processes cannot be understood properly.
