Panel 39: Urban Visual Culture (Till Förster)

Panel Organiser: Till Förster

By focusing on the city in Africa as social and cultural space, the panel tries to trace the tension between experience and imagination in the practices of various social actors. It asks how actors see the cities they live in and how they express what they see. A cross-cutting perspective is on how the practices of the actors relate to cities as a spatial environment and as architectural settings. Contributions are invited from all disciplines that engage in empirical research on visual culture.
