The panel addresses the dynamics of chieftaincy, politics and development in present-day political and social transformations in Local Arenas in West Africa. Panel participants are to contextualise settings where chiefs are at the interface of politics and development. But participants are also encouraged to reflect upon how politicians and developers in turn take on chiefly attributes and paraphernalia in exercising power.
