Panel 53: News, Networks and Nationalism: Print Cultures in West Africa 1860-1960 (Charlotte Hastings)

Panel Organiser: Charlotte Hastings

Following from the edited collection Africa's Hidden Histories, Everyday Literacies, this panel takes up the focus of West African Print culture, part of a group of academics working to explore and publicise both the ways in which print cultures in the 19th and 20th centuries reflected vibrant literate communities and the need for preservation and access to these materials.
