| Abstract | The paper will first address weaknesses and strengths in the existing literature. The South African Democracy Trust project is one of those
that seeks to provide much new detail, in its case on the nature of the South African struggle. The Aluka/DISA project has been much involved in deciding what to select for digitisation on the struggles in the region. It is necessary to get away from nationalist (patriotic) narratives and explore alternatives, while also contextualising the struggles and showing the links between them. This paper will point to new arguments emerging about the various liberation struggles and the transition from apartheid to democracy in South Africa. |
