AbstractMy paper intends to engage the articulation of African migrant literature/film production and the literary markets in the Netherlands. What is published and why, what is translated and why, what are the politics and economics of film festivals and African literary days? Are new authors presented or is their number limited to few well-known artists? What African - and migrant - languages and literatures are made accessible to the public? And what images of Africa are re-created and publicized in the Dutch literary and film markets? The critical investigation behind the research on production and literary markets invests the problematic links between artistic creation, marketing and consumption, in a specific local setting that reacts and interacts with the international and globalizing economics of literature and films.
