Abstract | Verbal art is often well and alive in African cities , for instance 3 years ago in Lubumbashi . Older - theatrical- modes of performance like Yoruba opera or traveling theater are now combined with video producing. In large cities , there remains an arena for a verbal exchange on ethical and social matters . Concert party , 40 years ago , was that kind of exchange , growing along with the vehicular language , supported by radio, often educational in its persective . I would like to reflect upon the social history of that kind of performance medium and to try to highlight its significance in African theater history.
