Grants for Conference Participation of African Scholars

The Organising Committee of the European Conference on African Studies 2011 is pleased to have secured funding to support the participation of African scholars in the 4th European Conference on Africa Studies 2011 (ECAS 4) in Uppsala in June 2011.

The funding has been made available from Sida (the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency), the Research Council of Norway (the subsidy from the Research Council of Norway applies to female scholars only), and AEGIS (Africa-Europe Group for Interdisciplinary Studies).

The purpose of the grants is to support participants who have no other available sources of funding for attending the conference. The grants contribute towards travel expenses, accommodation, conference fees, and per diem. The maximum grant amount is Swedish Krona (SEK) 15 000 (approximately EUR 1600) per participant.
