Ghent organises national and international conferences, seminars and workshops, both in Ghent and on the African continent.
More than 420 projects with African partners are ongoing at Ghent University Association. These projects are located in each of the 11 faculties of Ghent University and in the three associated Universities of Applied Sciences: Hogeschool Gent, Arteveldehogeschool and Hogeschool West-Vlaanderen. Some of the stronger research domains are African Studies, Conflict and Development Studies, Plant Biotechnology, Veterinary Medicine, Migration Studies, Urban Studies, Public Health, and Bioscience Engineering, among others.
At Ghent University Association a large number of MA courses in different disciplines offer a specialisation In African topics. A full list of English MA programmes at UGent can be viewed here.

A number of scholarship opportunities for students and researchers from Africa are available at Ghent University, both on the level of teaching (top-up grants for MA students) and on the level of research (short stay research fellowships).
