Teaching in African Studies:

Africa is undergoing profound change. Whether economically, socially, environmentally, demographically, or politically, African societies are transforming rapidly, and this master’s program provides the necessary perspective to understand these changes in all their complexity. The curriculum stands out for its interdisciplinarity, at the crossroads of the social sciences, natural sciences, and the humanities. It also offers a long-term perspective, and proposes to study Africa not in isolation, but through its interactions with the rest of the world.
The continent represents a new hub of economic and demographic growth, and its role on the international stage is only increasing—along with the social inequalities this process generates. Graduates of this track will therefore be able to draw on the skills needed to understand these challenges and respond to them in sectors as diverse as diplomacy, NGOs and international organizations, the media, as well as businesses—particularly multinational companies—active on the continent, and in the study and protection of historical and cultural heritage.
